Fall in Virginia is glorious and a welcome relief to the heat & humidity of summer. This past weekend our family gathered at our daughter & son-in-law’s home in the Shenandoah Valley. It was a beautiful fall weekend to be together and enjoy a local apple orchard.
Showalter Farm was having their 20th annual fall festival complete with hay rides, apple picking, food trucks and live music.
The hay ride was the highlight of the day for our 16 month old grandson. He is enamored with trucks and tractors and anything that rolls as most little boys are!
I enjoyed watching my son search the trees for the best apples and sample as he went! He and his dad discussed the qualities of the best apples and gave Micah one to hold. Micah wasn’t sure what to do!
I wandered the orchard as they gathered apples enjoying time with my family and my camera. I was thrilled to spot a red barn. I love to photograph barns and red ones make my heart sing.
After a few hours at the orchard we headed back for Micah’s afternoon nap. The evening was spent outside watching Micah’s delight at throwing the ball for the dogs! He is so adorable and I can’t get enough of him. Being a grandparent is the best ever!!
A boy with a stick and a ball. I love the pure joy on his face!
