I’ve been debating about what to write for my first blog post and finally decided an introduction would be a nice start. So, hello my name is Sharon! I’m a 53 year old photographer, married to my high school sweetheart for 33 years and living on a small farm in Spotsylvania, VA. We were blessed with two beautiful children who have grown and started lives of their own. Our daughter Katherine (aka Kat) married her high school sweetheart, Matt, 4 years ago and is pregnant with our first grandchild due in May! To say we’re excited is an understatement. Our son Matt (yes, it gets confusing around here with last names used a lot!!) is engaged to Hannah (who we love like our own daughter!) and they are planning a June wedding. Spring will be busy in the Houston home.
My photography journey started in my youth but I didn’t start learning and growing in my art until the last few years. As a teenager I captured snapshots of friends, high school band trips, church youth group and family reunions. Then I documented the first home my husband and I built and began piling up images of our children as they grew and became the center of our lives. And I’ll be honest, a lot of those images are still in boxes waiting to find their way into a photo album. How is it we have such good intentions to create those albums but never finish the task? Or maybe that’s just me.
The art of photography is a fascinating journey, one I think that never ends. There is so much to learn and numerous techniques to try. I’ve dreamed of creating a website for years, a place to share my images and some thoughts along the way. Thank you for visiting, I’m excited for what 2018 has in store and look forward to sharing my journey with you!
Congratulations on your blog. I look forward to seeing your pictures. We need new family pictures since it has been 10 years since we had one done and to say things have changed is an understatement. Keep up your posts.
Thank you Judy!
I love your website already!! I just looked at the pics, and they are ALL so awesome and unique! I love the picture of the mailboxes and the story behind it. Really makes you realize how much has change just in the short time we’ve been alive! Keep up the great work!!!
Thank you darling!!
