Peace

I usually choose a word for the New Year. Sometimes they stick for a few months and sometimes they’re forgotten by February. Just being honest! But this year is different. Maybe this word will stick with me for the year, I sure hope it does because Peace is what I long for.

For the past few days I’ve been watching the birds at my feeders. This brings me peace. It’s relaxing and usually entertaining to watch how they interact with each other. I especially love watching them in the winter when there is snow on the ground. They are so desperate for food and gracious for my feeders.

I’ve gotten a little better at catching them in flight and with all the activity I’ve had a lot of practice.

Hank helped me create this bird station outside the family room window so I’d have a good view. We have the feeders, a table with logs and rocks and a nice big vertical log for them to perch on. I think they enjoy the variety and I enjoy having different backgrounds for photos.

As this new year begins I’m praying God guides me and gives me the strength I need. Strength to make changes as needed, to continue alone, to find peace in my new life. I pray God nourishes me with His wisdom & guidance. I want to drink it in as this little sparrow drinks the water.

It’s hard to find the right words to express how I’m feeling. But I’m tired of just “surviving” each day. I want to start living again. I want to find the peace and yes, maybe even a little joy in each day. There is a song by Emerson Day called “God Ain’t Finished Yet” (link provided below). The entire song really touches me but the lyrics that jump out at me are:

“I trust Your plan Lord
It’s all in Your hands Lord
If I’m still here then You’re not done

This ain’t how the story ends
I’ve got a hope a future a purpose
I woke up and I’m breathing again
So God ain’t finished
God ain’t finished yet
I’ll stand on the promises
For my good He’s always working
I woke up and I’m breathing again
So God ain’t finished”
